This
tourist town is of outstanding beauty and is situated at the south of the lake,
Riva del Garda is of ancient descent and during the centuries was fought over
by the people from Trento, Verona, Milano,Venice, Austria and France. All these
people have certainly left their influence in the architecture of this town today.
In the Piazza III Novembre one can find the Palazzo Pretorio and the Municipal
Building dating XIV° century. The Rocca Scaligera built in the middle of the water
on the lake can be reached by a bridge, inside there is the municipal museum.
Worth seeing is the church of Inviolata, an original Baroque styled building.
Around Riva there are trips to the Varone Waterfalls, with its 87 metre drop,
to monte Brione (376 m) where one can admire from above the marvellous sight of
the lake below. Pregasina (534 m) is a charming little village nestled up above
the lake. At a few kilometres from Riva del Garda, one can visit lago di Ledro
housing a very interesting museum about Pile built dwellings | choose
