Verona
is the capital of the province of ancient and aristocratic descent. This is an
extraordinary city that boasts being one of the most composite historical centres
in Italy: there are harmonious mosaics in different styles from throughout the
centuries, along the steady flow of the Adige river. There are vast amounts of
veronese treasures to be admired: the roman city of the Arena and the romanesque
palachristian era church, the medieval city of Romeo and Juliet, and renaissance
and baroque both linked to the venetian rule. Verona is a city that has to be
discovered with its number of captivating monuments, the squares (such as the
mighty Piazza Bra and the smaller Piazza delle Erbe) and of course the fascinating
river Adige that passes along. Each year there are some very important artistic
exhibitions in Verona, such as the Opera Festival, that is held between July and
August in the Arena, and the Shakespear's Festival held in the Roman Theatre.
On the outskirts of the city the green lush vegetation unfolds into the veronesi
hills, covered with vines and olive trees. In this area famous wines such as Valpolicella,
Riciotto and Soave are produced. | choose
